The Promise of Allah

"The Promise of Allah" by Safia Malik

Dimension: 36” x 24”

Medium: Acrylics on Canvas
Available to Order: $380

As much controversial as this topic is, I wanted to address is by expressing a peaceful message. The burning of the Qur’an by ignorant people, regardless of how disgusting, hurtful and purposeless it may be, we as Muslims should be careful about how we respond to such negative acts. We shouldn’t return hate with hate & violence with violence. Rather, we should defend our beautiful religion by implementing its teachings & by following the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Every time I hear about such things happening, I feel hurt, disgusted & angry. But when I came across the ayah from the Qur’an in Surah Al-Hijr: 9, I felt peaceful, & satisfied. And I reminded myself of what a famous scholar once said “Trying to extinguish the light of Islam is like trying to blow away the Sun with your breath” because the truth of Islam is too strong to be defeated. It has been around for over 1400 years & it has remained the exact same. Through this artwork, I wanted to share that feeling of satisfaction & highlight this message from the Qur’an, that it is Allah who revealed the Qur’an, & it is Allah who will preserve it.

The Ray of Hope

“The Ray of Hope” by Safia Malik

Dimension: 15” x 60”

Medium: Acrylics on Canvas

Available to Order: $500
ALL PROFITS GO TO SYRIA & EGYPT (through ICNA Relief Canada)

This painting is inspired by the violence & oppression that exist in many Muslim countries today, such as: Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, Pakistan & more. I have chosen certain colours that symbolize the situation in these countries.  In this piece of art, Black represents the chaos & oppression. Red represents the bloodshed & violence. Green & White represent peace & ease. Gold represents the high rank of all the martyrs & innocent people who have sacrificed their lives by standing up for Justice  & Truth. These colours can also be found in the flags of these countries.  The ayah I have chosen is from Surah In-Shirah: 5-6. Tying back this ayah to the colours, expresses that although there has been oppression, violence, bloodshed, one should not give up their hope in the Mercy of Allah. Indeed with every difficulty faced by our brothers & sisters in these countries, they will see & feel peace. This ayah is a reminder that there are rays of hope so let not this hope be blocked with the drops of blood & evil that is happening. Indeed Allah is the All-Knowing and victory for Muslims is prophesied.

The Door of Ka'bah

"The Door of Ka'bah" (Bab- ul Ka’bah) by Safia Malik
Dimension: 36” x 24”

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Available to  Order $800

Masjid al-Haram is the most sacred place of worship in Islam, & it is built around the Ka’bah. Muslims are expected to face the Ka’bah because of its significance and sanctity. Every year Muslims from all around the world gather there to fulfill a pillar of Islam called “Hajj”. Hajj is a practice which tests one’s faith, asking them to leave behind all their attachments such as: their wealth, family, status, health, comfort, home, sleep, etc. This is one of the greatest struggles for Muslims (and Humans), but this struggle is the essence of Tawheed. The Door of Kab’ah is made out of gold, and it has a cloth covering to it called the Kiswa. Kiswa has different verses of the Qur’an written, which emphasizes the Tawheed of Allah SWT, and glorifies Allah SWT. I was inspired to make this painting out of my love and respect for not only this sacred Mosque, but also the most sacred place within the Mosque, which is the Ka’bah, The House of Allah, which is located in the centre of the world. Verses selected are: Shahadah, Surah al-Fatiha, Ayat al Kursi, Surah An-Nasr, Surah al-Anaam: 102, and Surah al- Ikhlas.

The Door of Kaaba

The Door of Kaaba (with the Shahadah and Ayatal Kursi)

Dimensions: 24" x 16"
Medium: Acrylics on Canvas

'Uthman bin Affan said I heard Allah's Messenger say: "Verily, I know a phrase which no servant utters truthfully from his heart except the Fire is made unlawful for him." 'Umar bin al-Khattab said: "I shall tell you what that phrase is. It is the kalima of sincerity with which Allah has empowered Muhammad and his Companions, the kalima of fear of Allah which Allah's Prophet enjoined upon his uncle Abu Talib on his deathbed: the witnessing that there is no god but Allah." [Ahmad 1:63 #449]

Abu Dhar said; "O Messenger of Allah, what is the greatest thing that has been revealed to you?" He said: "Ayat al Kursi". [An-Nasa'i]

Allahu Akbar

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

SOLD - $50

"Takbir" is the Arabic term for the words "Allahu Akbar". Allahu Akbar means "Allah is Greater" (than anything/everything). This is to say that nothing is greater than Allah, the Almighty. Nothing is equal to Allah. Everything is below Allah.

This phrase is used in various contexts by Muslims. Such as: During the the call to the prayers, during prayers, to express faith, in times of distress, to express celebration or victory, or to express determination.

Allah (alone) is sufficient for us

SOLD
14" x 12"

This painting has textured writing.

When one fears something and becomes anxious, one should seek help from Allah and should frequently recite this ayah of the Qur’an: “Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal Wakeel” Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)” (3:173). This one single verse is a source of all strength and all comfort. By putting one’s complete trust in Allah, leaving matters onto Him, seeking His mercy, by accepting His decree and submitting to His Will – anyone can prepare themselves to face any challenges that life brings to them. This verse teaches us not to fear anything but Allah SWT. The truth of the matter is that, with Allah's help and support on ones' side, no harm can come from any side. To read a little more about this verse, click on the link below :)
